It's
that wonderful time of the year where we get serious about having fun.
Specifically, we are targeting the annual Saddleback District Cub Day
Camp, and as always we need youth and adult help on the
Prior
experience is not required – we will provide all training.
To
serve as a Adult Rangemaster range you must:
1.
Be certified as a BSA Rangemaster or as an NAA Level 1 or above
coach. For those who need to take or renew their BSA Rangemaster card,
we will be doing training on the weekends of May 31-June 1 and June 7/8
(4 opportunities). Additionally, on May 31st, we will be
offering an NAA Level 1 course. The training location will be at Oso
Lake BSA Camp (details on the Day Camp website
and my calendar
page). There are limited spots available for the Level 1 so get your
requests in early. The deadline for signing up for the NAA Level 1
course is May 18. If you have a valid BSA Rangemaster or NAA Level 1 or
above certification, you do not need to attend an archery specific
training session – although refresher courses never hurt.
2.
In addition to the archery specific training, you will be required
to attend 1 of the Adult Training sessions (check the Day Camp website
for dates/times).
3.
Submit on online archery application. Click here submittal
to fill in the form. .
4.
Complete an Adult
Volunteer Application and turn it in via you BSA Troop, Cub Scout
Pack, or directly to the registrar.
To
serve as a Youth Volunteer on the archery range you must:
1.
Work all 5 days.
2.
You MUST attend an archery specific training session even if you
attended one last year. We will be doing training sessions on the
weekends of May 31 – June 1 and June 7/8 (4 opportunities). If you are
15 years or older, you may also get your NAA Level 1 certification. The
NAA Level 1 course will be held on May 31st. The training
location will be at Oso Lake BSA Camp (details on the Day Camp website
and my calendar
page). If you are 15 or older and are interested in the Level 1
certification, there are limited spots available so get your requests in
early. The deadline for signing up for the NAA Level 1 course is May 18.
3.
In addition to the archery specific training, you will be required

For
Youth Volunteers who work the archery range, we will also be offering
BSA Merit Badge and GSA Archery Interest Badge classes for those that
are interested. To participate in these classes, you will also need to
assist with camp setup and takedown. The additional requirements and
pre-camp worksheets are listed on the scout
badges page.
Also,
all forms should be filled out by the youth who are volunteering
(parents, you know what I mean). We look forward each year to watching
our young men and women mature through their experiences ... so let them
take the responsibility and grow from it. As for those on the BSA Merit
Badge track ... all communications from parents will be automatically
routed to my trash bin.
Once
you have signed up, we need you notify Keith Johnson and myself (@ our
main e-mail) of any
changes to your availability or further questions.
A
final requirement for all volunteers – be ready to have some FUN!!!
